Register for the Lake Placid Tournament

LONG EMAIL ALERT, Please Read in its entirety! We condensed 3-4 emails from past years into 1 to not spam you with emails this summer and have as much information as possible in one place.

The Annual CAN/AM Tournament in Lake Placid, NY is truly a highlight of every season for many LBYH teams and families. Unfortunately due to Covid (2020) and Construction on the Olympic Center (2021) there have not been tournaments taking place in Lake Placid the past couple years. LBYH is happy to announce we will be returning to Lake Placid this year. The tournament LBYH will attend is the weekend of November 17-20, 2022! Our plan (like other years) is to have 8 teams go (Bantam 1,2, Peewee 1,2,3, Squirt 1,2,3).

You are receiving this note because your son or daughter has been placed on a team that will be competing in the Lake Placid tournament this year. Please note this is in no way a mandatory event for players, but one in which the majority of players tend to participate.

We need to finalize room reservations & secure room deposits from all who plan to attend by August 23rd!

ACTION REQUIRED - STEP 1

We need ALL players to Register whether you are going or not. This will help us determine how many on each roster will be attending.

LBYH Lake Placid Registration Link

If you plan for your child to attend: Click on the link above to confirm your child’s participation in the tournament, and pay your $205 room deposit to secure a room for your family. Please make all payments by 08/23.

If you are not planning to attend, Click on the link above and select the option: No, I do not plan to attend the tournament. This way we can plan our numbers accordingly. There is no payment for not attending, but you must go through the registration process for planning purposes.

*The process to register with LBYH should only take a couple minutes at the most.

**If you have multiple players in your family attending and only require one room, you only need to pay the deposit one time. For the 2nd or more players registration, Select option: Yes, I plan to attend and the room deposit was paid during a sibling registration.

Note: Like all years attending Lake Placid, LBYH had prepaid room deposits back in June to Can/Am. This is the reason for this required payment to LBYH. When payment is made to LBYH and you are registered with Can/Am, a credit will be assigned to your Can/Am account.

ACTION REQUIRED - STEP 2 (will take place shortly after Step 1 is complete)

We need ALL players attending Lake Placid to Register with Can/Am online system, so that they can have proper information of who is included in your party, etc. This process takes less than 5 minutes! Please complete by August 30th (If you are not attending, please disregard this step). HOTEL ASSIGNMENTS WILL NOT BE RESERVED UNTIL ALL ON A TEAM HAVE COMPLETED THIS STEP.

For those attending Lake Placid, once you complete Step 1, I will then add you to your respective team’s roster on the Can/Am site, which you will receive an email from info@canamhockey.com inviting you to register for the Lake Placid Tournament. Follow these instructions:

1)Click the “Accept Invitation” Link in your CanAm email.

2)Create a CanAm account (or if you have a login from a previous year)

3)Complete your Player’s Profile. Don’t worry about your player’s number. You can go back and fill this in once you get his/her jersey.

4)Complete the Hotel Reservations – Your player will already be accounted for, just include # of adults & non-playing minors. **If you want a suite upgrade please note it in your reservation. Please note that any upgrades incur additional costs. Suites will not be assigned until all LBYH reservations have been completed.

5)Read & Sign the Terms & Conditions, which include cancellation policies.

6)GET THE INSURANCE! It is recommended, though optional. It should be $79 but protects against any last-minute cancellations for covered reasons (see Can/Am site for more details).

7) Pay $200 to Can/Am as part of their room reservation process. This amount is separate from what you are paying LBYH, but is deducting from the total amount you will owe.

Once you have completed these steps, I will allocate your deposit of $200 you made to LBYH to your account ($5 paid was to cover merchant processing fees). When you sign up your credit card on file will be used for the final payment (due 30 days before the tournament)

FAMILIES WITH SIBLINGS WHO BOTH WILL PLAY IN THE TOURNEY:

Accept the invitation of the player whose team you would like to be located the closest to. (eg. If you have a squirt & a bantam and want your room to be located with other squirt families, then accept the invitation of your squirt player first).

When you accept your registration for one of your players, the system should then ask you if you have another player (and name that player). It will then ask if you want to combine to one room. (You Do) So you should only have to go through this process once.

General Information on the Lake Placid Tournament:

As the turnaround time for you to make a decision is short, I wanted to provide you with some preliminary information on the tournament, to help you make your decision.

This tournament is generally the highlight of the season for players that attend – with lots of good hockey being played, team bonding & great times w/ LBYH friends & their families. For those who have not attended the tournament before, here is some general information that can help you understand what it entails & determine if your family would like to participate:

Each team is guaranteed 4 games with 4 teams in each division advancing to a medal game. Plus there is a Shoot-Out and Team Relay skating competitions each team will participate in.

Tournament opening ceremonies are usually around 4PM Thursday afternoon 11/17, with the first set of games immediately following. (Yes, I know it’s a school day, as is Friday - this tournament entails missing some school) and medal games end on Sunday afternoon. (schedules are typically released 7-10 days prior to tournament)

Pricing & additional information can be found on the Can/Am website. Follow the link and click “Gold Package” to see the associated per person costs & what is included. The quick & dirty is that tournament package covers tournament entry fees, hotels, meals, tournament party

Meals included are 3 breakfast (Fri, Sat, Sun), 3 dinner (Thur, Fri, Sat), 1 team pizza party and 1 lunch on day of your choice

LBYH has requested to stay at the Crowne Plaza Resort and/or The Golden Arrow Resort. We will receive further confirmation once the teams are fully registered. Teams will not be split up, but we may have some teams in different hotels.

The Can/Am site has a wealth of information about the tournament & what it entails. Please check that site for answers to your questions.
